$1.7 million worth of pot found in cotton equipment near El Paso

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials on Monday announced they had seized over a ton of marijuana at a border crossing near El Paso.

Officers decided to further inspect some cotton farming equipment on a flatbed trailer being hauled from Mexico. An X-ray of the equipment led officers to drill into some metal rollers where packages of marijuana were found.

About 2,100 pounds were recovered, estimated to be about $1.7 million. No arrests have been made pending further investigation.
