What if you were watching the Super Bowl and a pro-marijuana reform ad came on TV during the commercials? There’s a chance that you could see just that.
Intuit Quickbooks is running a contest where they will make a professional commercial for the small business or organization that wins. That means free advertising in front of million of people during one of the biggest sporting events on TV.
NORML (National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws) has thrown their hat into the ring and is competing for that coveted ad.
The contest is comprised of a daily vote, and while there are several front runners, NORML seems to be holding its own at the top. Every day people can go to the website and vote for who they want to win. You can vote for NORML by clicking here.
Cannabis activists have already been hard at it this year promoting marijuana reform at sporting events. The first was a commercial at a NASCAR race in July at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Most recently MPP (Marijuana Policy Project) bought a billboard outside Mile High Stadium as the Denver Broncos prepared to played their season opener. That billboard called on the National Football League to stop punishing players for using marijuana and driving them to drink.
“For years, the NFL has been punishing players for using marijuana despite the fact that it is far less harmful than alcohol, a substance widely embraced by the league,” said Mason Tvert, director of communications for the Marijuana Policy Project. “The league would never punish a player simply for having a couple beers, so why does it penalize them for using a substance that is less toxic, less addictive, and less likely to contribute to violence?”
