The Dallas/Fort Worth chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (DFW NORML) will be hosting a campout dubbed “Cosmos and Cannabis” this coming weekend.

A new hobby group within DFW NORML has been created by long term members and volunteers Joshua Sherman and Shaun McAlister which was inspired by Carl Sagan, astronomy, and cannabis. This free group is hosting its debut Star Gazing Campout this Saturday June 20 through Sunday June 21 near Dallas.

The group’s first overnight star gazing party will be held at Crazy Rick’s All Natural Goat’s and Garden, which is privately owned by long term DFW NORML members Rick and Vicki in Royse City. The event is free and open to DFW NORML members and their families.

At least 50 to 100 people are expected to attend.

Attendees are encouraged to bring tents, bug spray, sunscreen, water, swimsuits and inner tubes, blue jeans and boots, telescopes, kites, food to share for meals with the group, lawn chairs, fans, and anything needed for a night of camping under the stars.

There will be a limited number of telescopes available to share however attendees are encouraged to bring their own. DFW NORML is also looking for experts in the field to speak to their group about what is being seen and help others appreciate the experience even more.

They will also be debuting a brand new DFW NORML t-shirt design specially for Cosmos & Cannabis, which can be obtained with a donation of $20 during the event.

The event is open to current members only and their family. Entry at the gate can be obtained once membership has been verified, and for those without a membership, one can be obtained at the gate for $20. Memberships bought prior to the event will only be $15.

Children are welcome, however the group asks that pets be left at home.
