Irving police arrest 4 after seizing $1.6 million worth of cannabis

Irving police have arrested four people for having more than 1,600 pounds of marijuana. Officials value it at about $1.6 million.

Police say an anonymous tip led them to a U-Haul truck in a parking lot.

While monitoring the area, a vehicle dropped off a man who got in the truck and drove away. Police then stopped the truck on a traffic violation. They then had a police dog walk around the vehicle which alerted.

Upon searching, police found more than 100 cardboard boxes with cannabis wrapped in plastic inside them.

The four men arrested were Laurencio Hernandez Jr., 44, Jose Alberto Flores, 25, Oscar Hernandez, 21, and Juan Luis Rangel, 36.

Each man faces a charge of possession of marijuana under 2,000 pounds.
