A marijuana plant was found growing in front of a Temple apartment complex and had been growing so long that it reached three feet tall before residents called police about it.

Police arrived at the complex, located off South 5th Street, and removed the plant. An officer posed with the plant before they destroyed it and the picture was uploaded to the department’s Facebook page.

How the plant got there, no one knows, but it’s likely that someone tossed a seed out and it just grew. The plant looked to be in a very healthy condition.

“Maybe somebody threw down something they had in their possession when they saw the police coming at some point in time and it just took root,” Cpl. Christopher Wilcox stated, adding there were several theories.

Police searched the area but found no other plants.

Perhaps Texas will see more cannabis growing in the near future as a recent poll showed 58% of Texans in support of legalizing marijuana.
