The Patient Alliance for Cannabis Therapeutics held their 2015 Family Day and Potluck picnic.

This past weekend Vincent Lopez of Patient Alliance for Cannabis Therapeutics (P.A.C.T.) hosted their Family Day & Potluck event at Dick Nichols District Park in Austin.

The event was dubbed as a great opportunity for everyone who worked hard this past legislative session to get together and enjoy some social down time.

A variety of activities were available for both adults and children, including a special children’s book reading of ‘Its Just A Plant’, ‘A Peacock Finds A Pot Leaf’, and ‘A Peacock Finds A Hemp Island’. The potluck picnic had something for everyone and the Grow Your Own Food demonstration by Destiny Young from Texas NORML, the Austin chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, was considered a great addition to the activities.

Despite being in a very conservative neighborhood, the event was well received by locals and park goers. There were even a few families, outside of the group, which stopped while their children interacted with Hempy Sweetleaf, the 8 foot hemp-leaf mascot from Southeast Texas NORML. Hempy was popular with the kids and received a lot of friendly smiles and high fives.

Children played while friends from across Texas caught up, sharing ideas and stories.

Event coordinators said it was such a success that they plan to hold the event again next year.
