Corpus Christi will consider enacting a state cite and release law for marijuana offenders at an upcoming city council meeting.

Rapper Cameron Thomaz, otherwise known as Wiz Khalifa, was due in an El Paso court today to face marijuana charges from earlier this year, however he did not show up. After performing at a music festival in El Paso, Thomaz was busted for marijuana possession by airport TSA agents.

In what has been widely termed synthetic marijuana, 18 people have been arrested and six have been indicted in an alleged production and distribution ring operating in Texas and Oklahoma for a drug designed to mimic cannabis, according to KBTX.

Acting on a tip, Montgomery County Pct. 4 Deputy Constables went to 64-year-old Michael Terry’s home in Splendora to conduct a drug bust. Upon arriving they spoke with Terry who admitted to having cannabis on the property. Authorities arrested Terry for possessing two ounces of cannabis.

Irving police have arrested four people for having more than 1,600 pounds of marijuana. Officials value it at about $1.6 million.

Harlingen police have seized five tons of cannabis valued at about $7.5 million.
