Washington business to soon begin selling cannabis infused coffee

A new coffee product that is expected to hit store shelves once legal marijuana retail outlets open in Washington is infusing cannabis with caffeine.

The cold brewed coffee, dubbed “Legal” by its producer Mirth Provisions, will contain 20 milligrams of THC, the chemical in marijuana that makes you high.

Founder of the company Adam Stites says that’s just enough for an “alert, creative high.”

As for dosage, Stites stated, “the recommendation that we put on the bottle is start with half, wait an hour, see how you feel, then have the rest of it.”

The company also has four kinds of sparkling cannabis-infused, fruit-flavored sodas which will be sold along with the coffee exclusively at the 334 licensed marijuana retail stores which open in July.

Stites hopes to have the drinks ready in time, pending inspection by Washington’s Department of Agriculture. The 11 ounce drinks are expected to sell for as much as $11.00 a bottle.
